The premium-quality Leupold Green Ring Olympic roof-prism binoculars deliver the kind of performance most didn't think was possible in a lightweight housing. However, the Olympic binoculars are more than lightweight; they also provide excellent color fidelity, brightness, and clarity thanks to the phase-coated prisms and fully multicoated lenses. As a result, the binoculars are ideal for birders, sightseers, and anyone else who doesn't want to be weighed down while on the move. The Olympic binoculars employ 42mm objective lenses with a magnification of 8x, creating a generous 325-foot field of view @ 1,000 yards. The twist-up eyecups and generous 18mm of eye relief, meanwhile, help you enjoy comfortable extended viewing, even when wearing eyeglasses. Other details include a slim, ergonomic design; a rugged, waterproof armored coating; and a sleek black finish. The Olympic binocular carries a limited lifetime warranty. In 1907, Fred Leupold set up a one-man shop at 5th and Oak streets in Portland to repair surveying equipment. He was joined by his brother-in-law, Adam Voelpel, and later by inventor John Cyprian Stevens, and the foundations for a century of success were in place. During Leupold’s second half-century, the company focused heavily on the sports optics business. Leupold’s presence in the hunting and shooting market expanded with innovative optics and features that are now legendary among hunters, shooters, and outdoors enthusiasts. Many of the industry’s standards--nitrogen waterproofing, the Duplex reticle, and more--were Leupold creations.
Exceptional binoculars, especially in low light I have now bought 3 pairs of these binoculars (for family members & friends) since they came out. I notice the most recent pair was "Made in China" whereas the earlier pairs were "Made in Japan". I have compared these binoculars side by side to two different Zeiss models many times the price of these ones and there is no doubt they outperform the many times more expensive pairs in low light conditions such as late in the evening. The rubber armour is helpful for hunting and they seem reasonably waterproof.
