Orion Otter 10x26 Waterproof Compact Binoculars
From Orion

If you're the outdoor type, eventually you're going to get wet. The last thing you need is water getting into your binoculars and ruining them. But Orion's Otter compact binoculars are impervious to moisture, so you can take them on that misty morning hike, sailing on a wind-swept bay, or to a football game in chancy weather. These are rugged, high-quality compacts. The rubber armored all-metal body houses multi-coated 26mm optics for bright vistas and 8' close focus. Eye relief is so good you can use them wearing glasses. Twist-up eyeguards reduce glare, and the center focus wheel keeps images sharp. Sealed, nitrogen-purged barrels prevent internal fogging. Includes a neoprene neck strap, tethered lens caps, soft carry case with pocket, shoulder strap, and belt loop. One-year limited warranty.

Orion Otter Compact Binoculars These little binoculars are PERFECT for my application -- casual nature viewing and ocean-going ship watching. I would have given the transaction 5 stars, but for Orion's user-hostile return policy. The binoculars came with a very minor defect ... for which I would have exchanged them had Orion not required that I pay for the return shipping. Dennis Check for optical defects; needs steady hands The one Orion sent me had no QA sticker on it (unlike the 8x26 I had ordered that came in the same package), so I looked very carefully and sure enough there a defect in the right optical path. Called Orion's tollfree number; they were very helpful, courteous, and said that FedEx would email me a label. It never showed up in my inbox (I know Orion has my correct email address as they have since sent me other emails). So I called back and. again very courteously, they promised to snailmail me a FedEx free shipping label to return it. I assume that will show and the rest will be hassle-free.... I would have given this 4-5 stars (the way I will the 8x26 if it performs the way I expect it to in the field) but they shouldn't have shipped a non-QA'd binoc and they should have had a better understanding of what FedEx does and doesn't do for them. BTW, the 10x26 requires REALLY steady hands, arms, etc., so if someone in your family doesn't have those, then this is not for them.
